Microsoft Internet Explorer
(MSIE5.0)
Note: if you use Netscape, I will
be building IBT Browser Pages for you soon.
Click (left of course...) Add to Favorites and this is what you will see...
Notice a new Window pops up... Add Favorite? It has some choices and the name of the web page that we are saving to our Favorites. The buttons are: OK, Cancel, and Create in >> Also, there is a white check box with the words "Make available offline" to the right of it. We'll ignore that for now...ok?
Well...the easiest thing to do right now would be to click on the OK button and the web page Blue Mountain Arts' Electronic Greeting Cards will be saved....let's try that first.
Click the Ok button...the computer will save the web page (address/URL) to your Favorites Folder (almost immediately) and then it automatically closes the Add Favorites Window...right?
Next, to make sure the computer saved Blue Mountain, lets look in our favorites folder. Click on Favorites on the Menu Bar and this is what you will see...well...something like this. I am sure that your computer is different than mine but one thing is for sure...if you did the above procedure like we just described...you will see a "link" to Blue Mountain just like this:
Look at the bottom of the Favorites drop down menu and what do you see? Blue Mountain Arts' Electronic Greeting Cards...of course! Note: my favorites menu is very long...and I shortened it up (for the image above) so we could focus on what happens when we click OK to add a web page to our Favorites...ok?)
So...anyhow...do you believe me that the computer added Blue Mountain web site to my Favorites? Ok...then let's get in a little deeper now and look at how we can Organize our Favorites into Folders. Why do that? Well...if you find other greeting card web sites for example, you could put them and Blue Mountain into a Folder called Greeting Cards for example. The other reason that you will want to do this...I think, is that as you find more and more web sites that you want to add to your Favorites Folder...well...you list will get very long in a very short time and it will take you longer to find them...as time goes on...so....let's check out the next way to save a web site to your Favorites...ready?
While you are still on Blue Mountain's web page, click Favorites again...on the Menu Bar...and you will see this...again:
Once again, we want to click on Add to Favorites...so go ahead and do that now and you will see:
This time we want to click on Create In >>...so go ahead and do that now. We are going to save the Blue Mountain web page into a Folder this time...ok?
Notice a new Window/Menu pops up...this time it's the Add Favorite...again...but it has some new buttons and a different look...right? By clicking on Create In >> before, we told the computer that we want to save Blue Mountain in a folder so the computer shows us the menu that allows us to do just that...save it in a folder. Let's do it!
