be building IBT Browser Pages for you soon.
Search Engines are a powerful tool that you can use to find information on just about any subject that you can think of. There are a multitude of Search Engines available in the Internet and most of them are FREE! Wow, can't beat the price.
You might ask, which search engine should I use? Or, you might wonder which one is the ''best" one to use. If you will recall, we skipped the Search button on the Navigation Tool Bar before when we were examining that particular tool bar. Let's try it now and see what happens. It's the button right next to Home and to the left of the Address Text Box area of the Navigation Tool Bar. Please keep in mind that this button is only one of MANY ways of searching for information on the Internet. We'll talk about others in a minute.

If we click the Search button (notice that it's still gray like all of the other buttons on the Navigation Toolbar...until we left click on it or...select it), MSIE will do this...

Notice that the Search button that I pushed on the Navigation Toolbar of my browser turned "light gray or almost white" and looks like it's pushed in or depressed or selected? That's another of the many ways that the computer "talks" to you...it's showing that you have selected the Search button on the browser.
Now...please note the "white" search area that opened on the left side of my browser. In fact, a new "window" has appeared on my web page and to make room for it...it "squished" my web page (www.inette.com) over to the right. Anyhow, on the top of the white part of the Search window, (the gray area), it says Search and to the right of that is an "X" and under that is says choose a search engine followed by a tiny black upside-down triangle or down arrow. Left click on the tiny little down arrow and this is what you will see: (I'll just show you the left side of the browser...the new Search window part of the browser...so we can focus our attention on what we are talking about.)

Notice the drop down menu that appears? This is the selection of MSIE Internet Explorer Search Engines that is presented to you. Choose one by left clicking on it (I chose Lycos because it used to be one of my favorites...yes...I still like it but don't use it as much anymore) and this is what you will see:

So, there it is....the Lycos Search Engine. Notice that under the word Lycos (in black) is an all too familiar Text Box in white...located in the yellow part of the Lycos Search Engine? Under that is the famous Go Get It button. All we have to do now is...guess what? Yes, point our mouse pointer inside of the Text Box, left click once to get the insertion point (vertical black blinking line) and then we can type in our Search Request...whatever we are searching for...one word, several words, a sentence...
This page is long enough so let's go to the next Search Engines Page (Search Engines II) and continue our discussion or click on Searching below.
