Requires experience with Windows, and prior completion of an introductory course in Word, and introductory and intermediate courses in Excel. (Prerequisite: 10-101-120, Accounting 2, 10-101-105 Accounting-Computer Ledger.

Computer Accounting - Resources - Student EditionCourse Description:
This course provides the opportunity for the learner to develop the knowledge skills process and understanding of Windows commands, file management, worksheet applications, database applications, macros, evaluation of accounting software, installation of software, and conversion of manual accounting systems to computerized systems.

Supplies:
- 4 High-Density Disks or Flash Drive
- Access to the H: Drive
Course Competencies:
- Demonstrate Windows commands for disk and file management.
- Organize files efficiently on a hard drive.
- Develop worksheets using Excel to supplement computerized accounting packages.
- Evaluate general ledger accounting software.
- Install software.
- Implement the conversion of a manual accounting system to a computerized computer system.
- Complete accounting problem using accounts receivable module.
- Complete accounting problem using accounts payable module.
- Analyze the integration of a general ledger module, with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Perform a class presentation.
Expectations and Policies:
Attendance: Regular attendance will ensure that you have the maximum opportunity to participate in your education.
Windows Assignment: This assignment focuses on Windows commands and file management skills. Lab time will be provided in class to work on the assignment. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for due dates and other details. Assignments handed in late will be subject to a 2-point penalty per class period late. A late assignment will not be accepted more than two class periods after its respective due date.
Excel Projects: These projects cover amortization, invoicing, financial statements, and depreciation. Lab time will be provided in class to work on the projects. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for project details and due dates. Projects handed in late will be subject to a 5-point penalty per class period late. A late project will not be accepted more than two class periods after its respective due date.
Peachtree Exercise Assignments: These exercises require the use of Peachtree Accounting Software and provide the foundation for completing the Peachtree Projects. Lab time will be provided in class to work on the assignments. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for assignment details and due dates. Assignments handed in late will be subject to a 2-point penalty per class period late. A late exercise assignment will not be accepted more than two class periods after its respective due date.
Peachtree Projects: Two Peachtree projects are assigned from the text. They are cumulative in nature and therefore require mastery of skills from the related sections of the text. Lab time will be provided in class to work on the projects. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for project details and due dates. Projects handed in late will be subject to a 10-point penalty per class period late. A late project will not be accepted more than two class periods after its respective due date.
Inn Spot Peachtree Project: This project requires the use of a chart of accounts, Excel schedules, default information, beginning balances, transactions, and a profit plan. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for project details and due date. Projects handed in late will be subject to a 10-point penalty per class period late. A late project will not be accepted more than two class periods after its respective due date.
PowerPoint Presentation Project: This project requires the creation of a PowerPoint presentation. See the Course Calendar and Assessment Activities Summary for project details and due date. PowerPoint Presentation Projects must be completed by the required due date. Late projects will not be accepted or graded.
