Purpose
inette.com is a Multi-Media Web Portal Focusing on Learning.
I also consider it to be: "a non-commercial portal website, a starting point for internet beginners, and it is the home of:
The Aeronette, Digital Camera Beginners Tutorial (DCBT), Internet Beginners Tutorial (IBT),
NWTC-Marinette Accounting & Computer Courses and The Tennisnette."I call it a non-commercial Portal Website because I believe that is fits the definition,
as found at www.whatis.com as follows:"Portal is a new term, generally synonymous with gateway, for a World Wide Web site that is or proposes to be a major starting site for users when they get connected to the Web or that users tend to visit as an anchor site."
It is non-commercial because www.inette.com does not contain any paid advertisements.
It is a starting point for internet beginners. I am attempting to create a user friendly environment for them. A place where they can be comfortable.
And it is the home of The Aeronette, because of my interest in aviation. (I am a computer simulator pilot only, but always wanted to be a licensed pilot...even volunteered for the Air Force quite a few years ago. Who knows, maybe someday I'll just go and get my pilot's license!
The home of the new Midwest Culture - Art & Culinary Delights pages because I and a good friend have become hooked on Digital Photography, take lots of pictures, have team-taught Digital Camera classes recently, and we are deeply interested in finding and providing as many resources as we can for ourselves and our students as well as anyone else who may stumble upon these pages..
The home of the Internet Beginners Tutorial (IBT), because I felt there is/was a need for some easy to follow, easy to understand help...beyond the classroom, and outside of books for new internet users.
The home of the Digital Camera Beginners Tutorial (DCBT), because I felt there is/was a need for some easy to follow, easy to understand help...beyond the classroom, and outside of books for new digital camera users.
And finally, it is the home of The Tennisnette.
About the author
I currently teach computer and accounting courses at NWTC-Marinette and a few years ago, my son Jason and I team taught computer workshops at UW-Marinette. (We haven't been team-teaching for the last two years at UW because of time constraints.) (The courses include all MS Office Products, Windows95-98, Internet 101, Web Page Building (beginning and advanced), Adobe Photoshop, Digital Camera, Scanners, Internet Shopping, Get to Know Your Hardware, Get to Know Your Software, and College For Kids - Internet 101 and Web Page Building.
We figured out that we have been "toying" with computers for more than 20 years now and we both really enjoy teaching computer applications and the internet. Our first computer was a Timex Sinclair 2000!
www.inette.com has developed into a convenient place to store/display everything from computer workshop calendars to on-line syllabi and course outlines (click on NWTC or UW-Marinette links above.) It is also a convenient tool for teaching the internet. Recently, it has taken shape as a Portal Website, a starting point for internet beginners, and I am continuing the process of building the Internet Beginners Tutorial (IBT) Pages.
My first experience with building web pages was early in 1996. I and a co-worker became Certified Web Masters. We trained in Madison, and then built one of the 1st 10 bank web pages in the State of Wisconsin... www.fmmarinette.com We both enjoy working on the bank's web pages and keep it current and up to date.
My personal web page began in Dec. 1996 as a repository for all of my favorites/bookmarks, and a place for all of my midi files, and has developed into a teaching/learning/educational tool for myself and for my students. It is still a repository for all of my favorites - bookmarks. Since the beginning in 1996, my web page has changed many times. From my first experiences with the internet, I got "hooked" on midi music. I started to add midis to all of my pages, then started The Midindx, as part of my personal web page. Early in 1999, my son Jason and I decided to join forces on The Midindx. So our midi collection is now on it's own domain - www.midindx.com
